Hoof Beats of Hope, Inc. Is a therapeutic horseback riding program designed for individuals with physical and mental challenges. We are a non-profit organization that runs entirely on grants, donations, a small fee for services and with the assistance of volunteer workers. We were chartered in July 2002 and have started riding classes since April 2003. We are now a "Member Center" of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). As a donor: Individuals can help by providing cash donations, tack, riding equipment, horses, cleaning supplies, or other equipment. Businesses can donate cash or match funds for employee donations or volunteer time. Office equipment and donation of services is also appreciated. As a volunteer: We depend on the support of our volunteers. Volunteers help take care of the horses, equipment, and facilities. They may also assist in the riding classes as "leaders" - whose primary responsibility is the behavior of the horse - and "sidewalkers" - whose primary responsibility is the safety of the participant. Volunteers can also support the program by providing such services as clerical assistance, fund-raising, grant writing assistance, construction, and maintenance assistance, etc. |
